Videos that Cho Seung-Hui made of himself prior to the carrying out of the mass murders at Virginia Tech, were released today by NBC and other media outlets. Apparently the insane Cho had mailed a “media manifesto” to NBC between the dorm shootings at the A.J. dorms and second shootings in which 32 people senselessly died.

I’m a proud Virginia native, so this entire tragedy pains me to an extent I cannot express in words. Many of my friends attend VT and I feel closely connected with the pain they are carrying in their hearts. I so very much wish I could be there to lend support and help out in any way I can.

There are some additional details being revealed through the Wikipedia entry for Seung-Hui, that he attended high school at Chantilly H.S., which is very close to where I also attended high school. It chills me to think that I could have brushed shoulders with this sick and evil soul.

Something to note is that is there has widespread speculation (although I believe yet unconfirmed) that this deranged killer was enrolled in ROTC while at Chantilly. This could possibly explain his extreme accuracy when carrying out the shootings. His ability to effectively aim and shooting so quickly really did not sit well with me at all. Where did he learn to do this and how much planning went into his disgusting plan? These are questions which I hope and expect to be answered soon.

I am horrified and deeply saddened to learn of the shootings that occurred at Virginia Tech University this morning and my heart goes out to the victims, families and students/staff affected by this freak occurrence.

Unless you’ve been under rock the past several days, you’re aware that Halliburton has gone ahead and made the decision to move (at least the main office) to Dubai in the UAE. Yeah, not the best news, I know…

This clearly brings up slews of questions about why, when, for what, etc. I’ve been pondering these things, as I’m sure many ya’ll have as well. I can’t say I didn’t see this coming thought, as it’s a strong reflection of a wave of changes and moves made by big players in the oil game.

Our city’s know as a big center for energy companies, but perhaps Halliburton has made it painfully clear that lately we’re not nearly as popular a host as we once were. Seems as if we need to look to the future and set ourselves up for a local industry shift, but to what? What will take the place of energy (Halliburton and gang), if at all?

Maybe I’m off track, what do you think?
