You want to attend the ever-popular SXSW, right? Potential problem being… you’ll need one of the coveted festival wristbands to gain entrance to one the country’s most widely popular music/film/web festivals. As for now, you might stand a chance at snaring a band even though they apparently sold out by noontime yesterday (Tuesday).
Coming as no surprise, the first group of four thousand bands which could be bought by Austinites were all gone before the day’s end. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel, however.
Fanboys and fangirls alike might have an opportunity to get their knuckle-crackled hands on an entrance band when a yet-to-be-announced batch of them will be up for sale before SXSW’s opening date at 175 bucks a pop. That’s fairly steep, but count on everyone doing their best to secure one, two, or more of those near-200 dollar passes. There are also more expensive badges (250-student, 950-platinum) available via the official site. If you feel like I do, it’s simply too much dough to fork over, especially if you’ll be visiting from out of town (ie - us Houstonians).
I’m sure there are plenty of y’all who don’t feel the same, and are indeed heading out there come mid-March. If so, speak up and comment here to let us in on your plan and how you have or will be securing bands/badges.
For more info on this gigantic gathering of artists and fans alike, check out my previous SXSW post.

In addition to letting everyone get a taste of the musical artists, SXSW has plans to release movie trailers and other content via their official site.
If you’d like to download the aforementioned 3.1G torrent, you can get it here.

Our girl from Houston has made it all the way and won the talent contest “My Grammy Moment”. Your hometown congratulates you Robyn! Talk about a birthday present (Troup turned 19 yesterday) in the form of performing with worldwide pop star Justin Timberlake at the biggest and most publicized music awards ceremony/show there is.
In a recent post I wrote about our hometown chic Robyn Troup competing against other female singers in an online votes-driven contest hosted on a sub-site of Yahoo.com The young college student sang her way into the top three and was flown to Los Angeles previous to the awards ceremony, while final votes were tallied. Troup came out on top and was called upon to sing with Timberlake in what were some great duet moments. Atlanta-based rapper T.I. also join the duo for “My Love”.
It’s great to see someone with true talent who deserved the win, to take the win and hopefully be shown in the proper spotlight now that she is in national recognition. The young Houstonian really has a fantastic voice and looks to be entering what could very well be a successful career in music if things continue to go the way they have been for Ms. My Grammy Moment.
