I’m sipping my iced green tea here at Te House of Tea by the corner of Woodhead St. and Fairview near Montrose; and it’s heaven. Te’s a new venture for me, as I’ve never been here but the trip was most definitely worth it. With the best of classic reggae music so subtly flowing through the tea-scented air here, it’s the perfect spot to crack open our laptop and make use of the free WiFi.

Time to order more awesomeness on ice…

Okay I’m back… *sip* oh yes, it’s the good life here at Te. Although parking could be more accommodating, that’s no different than anywhere else in the area. You could look at the parking issue as I did and feel extra accomplished knowing you snagged the last available spot just in time, followed by a mental self-congratulatory celebration. Yes I’m a nerd at times, I know this.

When you find yourself cruising down Westheimer at any time of day throughout the week, take out an hour or two and settle at Te House of Tea to enjoy a hot or cold brew with one of their uber good in-house pastry creations.

p.s. - Seriously, try this tea house out, you’ll love it.

Thank goodness I don’t eat at Pappas restaurants anymore. There are over 250 people who have flocked to local spots where they can register to get vaccinations for hepatitis A, all because they may have contracted it by eating a Pappasito’s on 45 north.

Houstonians who ate at the local mexican restaurant in the northeast area of town late January or this month might have been exposed to hepatitis A due to an employee who tested positive for it, who handled food without proper gloves, etc. Nasty, I know.

Don’t get scared if you fall into this group of potentials, because as long as you’re vaccinated within two weeks after being exposed, you should be alright. Hepatitis A doesn’t pose nearly as seriously health risks as B and C do. Indeed, there may be adverse reactions to it in certain folks, but for the most part it’s a “passive” thing. Most people who become infected, recover within several weeks.

You can get the necessary shot for free at the Magnum-Howell Center on 2500 Frick Road, through Thursday.

A personal weekly dinner ‘n’ drinks spot for me, I’m all about Zake and their staff. Feel right at home while you enjoy eats from their elaborate menu.

4. Blue Fish House

Humorous entree titles and creative atmosphere are just two reasons you’ll love Blue Fish House.

5. Sushi King
3401 Kirby Dr Houston, TX 77098
The name says it all. Easy on the wallet, too!

6. Azuma Sushi & Robata Bar-Rice Village

Azuma’s a staple in the Houston sushi restaurants and you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t love this one.

7. Taiko Japanese Grill & Sushi Bar

Although a bit busy for my taste, the hibachi joint takes home spot number 7 in this top 10.

8. Japaneiro’s Sushi Bistro & Latin Grill
2168 Texas Dr Sugar Land, TX 77479
Fusion at its best. Head south to Sugarland for a wonderful meal.

9. Kaneyama Japanese Restaurant
9527 Westheimer Rd Houston, TX 77063
Authentic as it gets. If you’re real about your Japanese cuisine, this is the place for you.

10. Tokyo Bowl
2402 Bay Area Blvd Houston, TX 77058
Although I’m not a big fan of the name, you can’t deny this neighbor-to-NASA’s fresh dishes and rolls.
