DiCaprio set to star in Enron movie
February 19th, 2007
Leonardo DiCaprio is set to play a major role in a new movie about the downfall of Enron. Plans are still in the early stages but reports have it that he is working with Warner Bros. and the studio’s closing up the seven-figure rights deal with Kurt Eichenwald who authored “Conspiracy of Fools”. The popular book written by the New York Times reporter will serve as the strong basis for the film.
DiCaprio’s been working closely with WB as of late, in both “The Departed” and “Blood Diamond, in which his performance in the latter earned him an Oscar nomination this year. Leo’s acting has become increasingly skilled and his delivery is more powerful than we have seen in the past, so I’m predicting that this Enron flick will be edgy and insightful; possibly opening up the public’s eyes more so to the evil of Enron’s crooks than has been in the past.
If you’re wondering about ol’ boy’s role in the aforementioned shebang; he’ll be playing the part of a newly hired employee at the energy company who begins to discover the complex of criminal activity that killed off Enron six years ago.
Count me in for this one. I’ve been thinking for a while now that a movie regarding Enron would be filmed and I’ve got to admit that I think Leonardo’s a good choice for lead actor. He’s not one of my favorites by far, but in this case I have faith he’ll produce a good performance.
