The NOLA/H-town violence drama continues
April 12th, 2007Back in December of 2005, there was a NOLA filling up his Buick rental SUV at a gas station (not surprisingly, in the Southwest area), who was shot and killed after being carjacked. The man who shot the NOLA to death with a 12 gauge is a Houstonian. Not sure if he’s a native or not. Well, today jurors in the case decided that Devon Jackson (age 22) will also suffer the same fate his victim did, by having his life taken prematurely.
Specifically, Jackson shot the victim to death while he was on the phone with 911 calling for help and to report the crime. The cell phone call was played in court and everyone could hear the shot being fired, ending the man’s life. Disturbing to say the least.
There has been NOLA-on-Houstonian crime, and Houstonian-on-NOLA crime (although much less common), but it’s all terrible and I’ll say it again - stay out of the lower income areas of southwest Houston. That part of town is no good and if you must go there - then prepare yourself (if you know what I mean).
