Gov. Perry signs bill increasing Texan’s deadly force rights
March 28th, 2007This is Texas, where when someone’s threatening your life, you shoot first and ask questions later. Gotta love this state, right? Governor Rick Perry signed a bill yesterday that expands our state’s deadly force rights. Thank goodness there are still folks in power that don’t pansie out on issues like this. (I can hear the angry comments coming now…)
The bill gives Texans a more definite right to legally defend themselves with “deadly force” when in their residence, vehicles and places of work. All too often we hear of someone being carjacked, mugged, beaten, etc. and the low-life using a gun during the crime. I urge you all to put yourselves in that position mentally and think about trying to survive. Guns are scary for many people, and I’m aware of this, but often times it can save lives to be carrying legally. Keep in mind though, never brandish your firearm unless you intend to use it. Always be licensed and well versed in firearm safety.
Back to the bill… both chambers of our legislature overwhelmingly approved this gun law a few weeks ago, making it easy for Perry to sign. The bill’s backed by the NRA (National Rifle Association) and it states that a Texan does NOT need to retreat from intruders before using deadly force. Lehman’s terms: when someone’s intruding, shoot first, ask questions later.
15 other states have widely passed similar legislature.
