Lisa Nowak pleads not-guilty
March 22nd, 2007
Ex-astronaut Lisa Nowak has turned into a not-guilty plea via her attorneys today. The charges against her are from a kidnapping+murder attempt from earlier in the year, which put Houston in the national spotlight, as NASA is based in Clear Lake (just south of Houston).
I’m not surprised by this, honestly. If you’re an avid reader of blog here (which I appreciate!), you know that I’ve slammed supporters of Nowak (Silvestro’s) and feel for the victims in this case. She’s innocent until proven guilty, so I hope that all the facts are presented well and that an unbiased jury makes a well-educated decision.
To pop in an overview… Nowak’s a mother of three and was arrested on February 5th of this year after she apparently drove straight through from Houston to Florida, where she confronted Cpt. Colleen Shipman (Air Force) in the parking lot of the Orlando airport. Nowak pepper-sprayed Shipman and supposedly had plans to kidnap her and take her life because Nowak thought her to be romantically involved with her man-friend Bill Oefelein (also a NASA astronaut).
Lisa’a been canned from NASA since the incident and is currently free on bail.
Give it all you’ve got in the comments section of this post, I want to hear what you have to say about this craziness.
