SXSW passes go on sale
February 28th, 2007
You want to attend the ever-popular SXSW, right? Potential problem being… you’ll need one of the coveted festival wristbands to gain entrance to one the country’s most widely popular music/film/web festivals. As for now, you might stand a chance at snaring a band even though they apparently sold out by noontime yesterday (Tuesday).
Coming as no surprise, the first group of four thousand bands which could be bought by Austinites were all gone before the day’s end. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel, however.
Fanboys and fangirls alike might have an opportunity to get their knuckle-crackled hands on an entrance band when a yet-to-be-announced batch of them will be up for sale before SXSW’s opening date at 175 bucks a pop. That’s fairly steep, but count on everyone doing their best to secure one, two, or more of those near-200 dollar passes. There are also more expensive badges (250-student, 950-platinum) available via the official site. If you feel like I do, it’s simply too much dough to fork over, especially if you’ll be visiting from out of town (ie - us Houstonians).
I’m sure there are plenty of y’all who don’t feel the same, and are indeed heading out there come mid-March. If so, speak up and comment here to let us in on your plan and how you have or will be securing bands/badges.
