January 17th, 2007Coming on the heels of this week’s earlier Astros’ signing, the we’ve gained Brad Lidge on a 5.35 million deal for one year. Lidge is a good player, and although he suffered from some serious post-season failures the guy’s the all-time leader in strikeouts per-nine-innings @ 12.98 (among recognized pitchers), his fastball consistently hits 97/98 mph, in addition to a slider that hits high 80’s and sometimes 90mph. That’s some serious heat that we could really use in the bullpen, and hopefully he’ll hone his skills to secure more Ks.
