Houston Astros Out of the Running
October 2nd, 2006Well, no playoffs, World Series, or intense city-wide excitement for Houston this year. I was really pulling for our guys to make it, but alas, we lost yesterday and St. Louis won.
I find it interesting and re-assuring how most fans, including myself, refer to a team as “we”. Just goes to show the comradery that can be found via a group’s dedication to something as simple and enthralling as a professional baseball organization’s daily happenings.
What do you think - will “we” come back stronger next year? Is a World Series really within the scope for the upcoming seasons?
I feel that the Astros have the talent necessary to go all the way, but there need to be some serious improvements within management. Right now we’re good, but good isn’t great.

Yeah! I was hopeful this season but we will see next year.

Yes, because we are out of the running, that means no city wide excitement and something to talk about with every stranger you encounter. But that doesn’t mean that I will not be watching every game I can screaming and hoping that St. Louis DOESN’T WIN! My team spirit will continue on even though we aren’t in the running. And yes, I do think we have everything it takes to win a World Series, I just hope we don’t lose it after this season
